About the Book
Living somewhere between a distant past and a distant future, these photographs represent a culture during a process of change. While many aspects of a life dependent on the land remain, modern artifacts like store bought clothes and public transportation are becoming more and more a part of life for the Ngabe-Bugle Indians of Western Panama. Taken between 2004-2005, these photographs are my attempt to visually communicate the reality of life in the small town of Santa Marta, where I lived for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer.
