About the Book
A colorful catalogue celebrating Exhibit A, a 12 panel painting series by Alabama artist Dori DeCamillis. Funded in part by the Alabama Council on the Arts, the book highlights the stories and inspiration behind the work, and features full-page reproductions of the panels.
Dori graduated with a BFA in painting and art history from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1987. After college she traveled the United States in a motorhome full-time for years, making a living selling her artwork along the way. She chose to settle in Birmingham, Alabama, a favorite place encountered in her travels. Her paintings were exhibited in museums and galleries across the country and abroad. Her travels and artwork have inspired three books: The Freeway, which chronicles her life on the road, My Steamboat, a memoir of her childhood in the Rocky Mountains, and Exhibit A, a catalogue of her Alabama painting project. With her husband, ceramic artist Scott Bennett, Dori now co-owns Red Dot Gallery in Birmingham, a teaching space, working studio, and art gallery.
