About the Book
The Northwest Native Peoples call the bear the “Elder Kinsman”, wise, courageous and independent. This 152-page standard landscape journal is filled with images of the coastal brown bears of Katmai National Park, Alaska, along with facts about the brown bears and my own observations made while photographing these amazing creatures. In addition to photos and facts are plenty of blank, lined pages just waiting for your own thoughts, notes, stories and dreams.
I have a "day job", but my "night job" and serious hobby is photography. I've been a photographer since high school (eons ago). I inherited my love of the medium from my father, who in his day used his Mamiya twin-lens reflex to capture Ansel Adams-worthy scenes of my home state of Montana. My first digital camera was a 2MP point-and-shoot from a local store. Since then, I have never looked back to film. I've traveled and/or lived in Montana, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California,New Mexico, Colorado, Kentucky, Louisiana, Texas, Western Canada, London, and Ireland. I hope to do much more travel and photograph many more things before all is said and done.
