Jackson Byrne is a major land developer with a big project and a big problem: a lone property owner – an eccentric and possibly senile old man named Musman– won’t even discuss selling his run-down farm, at any price. The land is vital to the success of Byrne’s multi-million dollar project.
He enlists two of his top “fixers,” Rick O’Shea and Katherine Hawes, both do-anything dealmakers, to break the impasse. But Katherine soon finds herself liking the old man and doubting her commitment to the project. In wrestling with the conflict between her driving ambition and her sense of decency, she comes to understand about Musman’s ties to his land, and why they run much deeper than any sum of money could ever dislodge.
