About the Book
The first time you go to the desert it is not so much the lunar landscape but the absolute silence which overwhelms you. In this silence one cannot but notice the incredible noise we host in the mind we brought with us. Facing that without the comfort of the usual distractions can easily get too much and some just freak and never return. For the few others who allow the initial reaction to subside there will never be a richer form of heaven. In the vastness of the desert space, where everything just silently is, one remembers the freedom in just being, the peace available when you let go of trivial concerns. That inner shift from focusing on the outer or conceptual objects to sensing our very subjectivity is for me the highest art. And it is that unadorned inner space I tried to convey with these pictures of beloved landscapes and people.
This book is dedicated with gratitude to all those who have ever shown me love. As I enter my 50th year, it becomes clear that without love I would have been no different than my camera; a recording mechanism able to capture the details yet incapable of the one true magic we humans potentially have - a sense of wonder.
