About the Book
Hard Rhythm features the Automotive Photography of Glenn Elliott/Generator Photography.
Cars are rhythmic creatures - the way any living creature has a natural rhythm that tells the world they are alive. I believe in the hard rhythm that cars have. Difficult. Not easy to keep going. And sometimes at great cost.
There is also a hard rhythm in the lines and sensuous curves of the automobile: the beautiful repeating patterns in the grills, the headlights, the wheels, the dashboards.
This book of photographs is a celebration of that heavy, glorious rhythm of the automobile.
My name is Glenn Elliott, I'm 48 years old, born and raised in Los Angeles, and currently living in Las Vegas, Nevada. Much of my work focuses on streets, freeways, cars and motorcycles, strip malls, light industrial complexes and suburbia. Where others see soulless architecture and drab surroundings, I try to see interesting shapes and angles, interplay of light and shadow, juxtapositions of images and themes. I try to find beauty in places most people have written off as ugly. This is what I do. I have a total, impassioned and unwavering belief in my art.
