grumpy shower explores the different kinds of love through the lens of a second generation Cambodian-American, daughter of a single mother, and lover of my own body.
Princess Chan is a twenty year old blogger and organizer made of paper planes and her mother’s laughter. She is a former three-time member of the FreeVerse! Lowell Youth Slam Team, a two-time member of the Mill City Adult Slam Team, and the first poet to earn a spot on all three Lowell slam teams simultaneously. Currently, she is the loving co-coach, workshop facilitator, and programs coordinator for the non-profit organization FreeVerse! and the female voice of the Untitled Open Mic. Her work has been published in Lowell’s anthology “Young Angel Midnight” and she has graced the stages of the 2013 National Poetry Slam, the 2013 and 2012 Louder Than A Bomb Massachusetts, the 2012 Ontario International Poetry Slam, and the 2011 Brave New Voices in San Francisco. Princess has opened up for the U.S. poet laureate Robert Pinsky and HBO Def Jam Poetry’s Mayda Del Valle. If she is not sleeping, you can find her studying English, listening to Boyz II Men, and teaching poetry to kindergartners.
