About the Book
These books contains information related to church artefacts and style within the county of East Sussex. Volume 1 deals with those in Lewes District and contains church buildings of a variety of denominations as well as those made redundant or otherwise in private ownership. Subjects covered include stained glass, wood and stone carvings, decorations and fittings such as pulpits and fonts together with a short history. Specialist subjects include essays on round-towered churches and Royal arms. Emphasis is on pictorial aspects of the subjects and is illustrated with almost 500 photographs. In addition there are suggested routes around the district as well as information on times when churches can be visited as well as where to find out more information on each location. 180 pages
Photography is my main interest followed closely by my love for the art of stained glass. I am engaged in attempting to record all of the windows in ecclesiastical-related building in my county and, whilst I am doing this, other fittings with an emphasis on the artistic merit of each part of a church.
