"My Pictures and Words" is a compilation of some of my photographs - 58 of them in this book - and the words they have inspired. Some are presented as a picture and the haiku verse it has inspired. Others, such as "Believe the Birds" is an imaginary conversation between 3 old blokes leaning on a railing at Kiama Harbour, on the South Coast of NSW. A seagull and a wise old pelican also contribute their thoughts - and make a lot of sense. You have here the fruits of my labours as I edit the photographs to make pictures from them, which is when the words come to mind. While I can't claim to be a poet in the traditional or formal sense, as thoughts arise, I write them down, for better or for worse. It's just the way I express myself. This is a summary of some of the places I've been to and captured images of and the emotions they have evoked, plus emotions I've experienced for which I have tried to find an appropriate image.
