With the collapse of the Iron Curtain, Eastern Europe has opened its doors to tourism in the past 20 years. The region’s rich history spans from Roman times to the Habsburg Empire’s dominance of much of Central and Eastern Europe during the 17th-19th centuries to the post-Soviet democratic era. Images of Hungary and the Czech Republic showcases the architectural treasures, scenic countryside, and myriad small towns of the region, many of which have remained unexplored until recently.
