Laura Grimes explores the many possibilities of the one-minute gesture drawing.
Life drawing is the art of drawing the human figure from a living model. It is essential to an artist's education. A life drawing class usually begins with a series of short gestures by the model. The gestures give the artist a warm-up for the rest of the session. But these gesture drawings are often the best of the session.

The Artwork of Laura Jeanne Grimes
Laura Jeanne Grimes completed her BA in Art History at The University of Houston and her BFA in Studio Art at The University of Texas. Her earliest memory is of fingerpainting. She remembers dipping her finger into the paint, looking up at that huge sheet of paper, and dragging her finger across it. The mark left behind seemed magical. She remembers her astonishment at seeing, for the first time, the 64-color box of Crayola crayons (with the built-in sharpener). Perhaps her most vivid memory of early childhood is the day she got a brand-new pair of red Keds. She jumped on to the grass, and at the sight of the red, red shoes against the green, green grass, a deep joy welled up in her heart. She has always loved color and expresses that love in her art.
