About the Book
The human hand is visually represented in most areas of the world and almost exclusively at farmers markets everywhere. Written type rather than print is very common because it is easier, faster and the most cost effective to create. This kind of lettering helps to provide a kind of intimate experience between the growers, sellers and consumers. What aren’t so clear are the obstacles that these farmers must overcome in order to sell their produce. In this book I will explore the relationship between consumers, farmers and their typography which labels their products for sale at the following farmers markets: the Historic City Market in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, the Lawrence Farmers Market located in Lawrence, Kansas and the Overland Park Farmers Market in Overland Park, Kansas.
