At the parking lot, I disembarked the bus and crossed a narrow bridge, dodging a few kids racing to their car. The parking lot was full with hikers finishing their day on the mountain. I found the trail and started my hike through the lush green forrest. Occasionally I heard hikers approaching and we said our hellos as we passed each other. Then abruptly all was silence and I wandered through the island’s ancient cedars alone. It was rather wonderful having an ancient forest all to myself.
