About the Book
Incident Light is the name of a group of photographers based in the historic city of York. The group talks photography and takes photographs, often collaborating on projects like this and selling the results for charity.
This book is the result of a year-long project taking photographs in and around York, dividing the city into squares and with each photographer being assigned a square at random to explore and photograph throughout the year. The result is a fresh take on a much photographed city, unlocking the parts more usually over-looked and un-celebrated, hiding in the shadows of the famous buildings and architecture for which York is famed.
The images in this book celebrate the old and the new, the everyday and the unusual, the people and the places - captured and shaped by the eye and the photographic style of the photographer for each of the chapters.
We hope you enjoy looking at it as much as we enjoyed making it.
