This is a children's story of a lonely dog and a fast runner, searching for a friend. Inspired by her own dogs along with her many years living and painting in Provence, this book features Rokhaya Waring's watercolor illustrations. NOTE: when ordering, choosing the "Premium, lustre" Paper is recommended, as it is thicker and more durable.
A native of the North Shore of Boston with roots in France, Rokhaya's inspiration has always been the natural world and based in direct observation. Twenty summers of Plein Air painting in Provence have had a profound influence on all of her work, past and present. Today, Rokhaya enjoys the advantages of working both Plein Air and in her studio, with her sketchbooks and photographs as reference. It is in the quiet focus of this space that her ideas are interpreted, distilled, defined. Waring received her BA in Art History/Visual Arts from Princeton University in 1988. She is represented by Blue Heron Gallery, Wellfleet, MA; Arnould Gallery, Marblehead, MA; and Alpers Fine Art, Andover, MA, and is a member of the Rocky Neck Art Colony- one of America's oldest working Art Colonies. Rokhaya's paintings are held in hundreds of private collections in the U.S. and abroad, and she is featured in the book "100 Artists of New England" (Schiffer 2011).
