This body of work is a collection of palpable combat zone photographs taken by War veteran Max Aberatine. These war photographs are directly placed side by side photographs I took of Max where he currently lives in Queens NY. What is life like after experiencing a War? what is life like in and around a combat zone? This book is a glimpse into and out of a war experience. A human being trained to be a killer coping with life back into human society.
My work has been described as otherworldly and poetic. I strive to not onlybreak stereotypes of society through my artwork but also to illuminate peoples potent life stories through the ever powerful language of photography. I am inspired by the subtle exquisite moments in life that inspire others to live life to its fullest. Smiles from complete strangers, random acts of kindness and ordinary human actions such as the warmth of a hug are what constantly motivate me into creating works that will inspire the world.
