About the Book
The book is a catalog of the sculpture and writings of Cuban American
artist, Ana Flores. The work is focused on the artist's sculptural
installations inspired by two trips back to Cuba in 2002 and 2012. By
following the threads of her own family history and placing it in context,
Flores creates an intimate, yet expansive view of the island's complicated
and colorful history. Award winning book designer, Sara Eisenman. has
elegantly curated selected images of sculptures and excerpts from the
artist's journals representative of the solo show which has traveled
through the U.S. The book also includes two art historical essays on
Flores's Cuba work by Andrea Herrera O'Reilly, author of many books on
Cuba, including Cuban Artists Working In Diaspora, and art critic, Doug Norris.
