This book, written for children of just about any age imaginable, is delightful at many levels. It is, first, a collection of cartoon pictures of birds that no one ever has seen before (or ever will again). The pictures are visual puns based on common English terms containing references to birds (e.g., duck soup, mocking bird). Accompanying each picture is a limerick referring to that bird, usually also containing a pun or two. Small children will love the pictures, even if they do not understand the limerick. Children will understand the limericks and the visual puns more and more as they grow older, and by the time they are pre-teens they should understand most of it. Adults will find it a delight to read, and to read to their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and whatever other children they know. All the pictures are in full color, and the text is large enough for young children to read easily.
