Maine is the home of intensely wonderful gardens that last only a few short months in the summer. They draw those who love the vibrancy of the colors, the cleansing of the air and light, and the truly remarkable story of the natural environment around us. These two gardens are created from the vision of a couple who love all those connections, and who get great joy from sharing them with others. This book is the photographic story of one summer, from the birth of the flowers to the cycle of the monarch butterflies. We hope it inspires you as it has inspired us.
I am an architect who grew up on Mount Desert Island in Maine. I have had a long term interest in photography that has grown in recent years. I thoroughly enjoy everything from landscape and nature photography to family portraits to architectural photography. Mount Desert Island, where I now live year around with my wife Carol and daughter Ann, offers a nearly endless palette of photographic opportunities, all while letting us enjoy one of the most beautiful places on earth.
