About the Book
Cuban-born artists Carlos Manuel Cárdenes and Esteban Blanco are Miami and Colorado-based expatriates whose works in photography, bronze and mixed-media sculpture mine the depths of their diasporic experience. Cárdenes' "FACES" series of photographs of Cuban artists survey this dynamic group and are as a whole incredibly moving. Blanco will exhibit works from two series - bronze works inspired by Italo Calvino's work of fiction The Invisible Cities that wrestle with our wish to idealize our home cities after we have long departed, and his mixed-media sculpture series "Violent Toys".
