About the Book
The Oral History Project
The goal of the Slavic Village oral history project was to capture the memories of Broadway Slavic Village residents, over the age of 60, who have lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years. We also wanted this project to be an opportunity to build bridges between the youth and seniors living in Broadway Slavic Village. What follows is a compilation of five interviews. The interviews were conducted with two student interviewers, three seniors and one observer. Interviews were then transcribed and have been condensed for the purposes of this book. This book does not give a comprehensive history of the neighborhood rather it is a snapshot of the neighborhood through the eyes of the 10 individuals who were interviewed.
