This book is the result of ‘Our Community, Our Stories’; a workshop in early 2014 in which local older residents shared stories of life growing up in the 20th Century. Children collected and recorded these stories to make the content of this book.
This inter-generational workshop is part of a series funded by vInspired, and encourages residents of all ages to come together, interact and learn from one another, whilst enjoying and using their library space.
The stories in this book are from the residents of Kensington & Chelsea, London.
Celebrate My Library is a not for profit project created by library lovers Hilary and Victoria. We celebrate libraries and everything they do by speaking to the people who love them the most and through this we try to show people who don’t yet use libraries just how great they can be. By working both independently and collaborating with Councils up and down the country this impartial project allows us to speak to and inspire the widest variety of library lovers possible. Here you can see and buy books from our Childrens Workshop series - the result of a fun packed story writing workshop inspired by the childrens local library, and illustrated by talented up-and-coming illustrators.
