About the Book
DRVN2abstraction, Volume2 is a worthy follow up to the first DRVN2 PictureBook by renowned Southern California photographer and artist John Connell. As the title suggests, this is a collection of abstract photographs, presented in a format that allows Connell to showcase his very best work, write clearly about framing and cropping strategies, and reinforce his written message through simple, clever book design and inspired image pairings. Some sample text: "DRVN2abstraction is a collection of mostly personal work, sort of a scattershot look at here, there, and everywhere I think I might have been. Beyond the obvious need for a title, every book needs a purpose and a theme and this one offers an abstract look at things I think I might have seen. One definition of abstraction is that it is a concept or idea not associated with any specific instance. Indeed, the following pages are filled with images of nothing in particular, yet each managed to find their way into this collection". A whole lot of "nothing" adds up to quite something else in this breakthrough DRVN2 branding effort by Connell. DRVN2abstraction proves that less is more when it comes to artfully crafting a stellar composition. Volume2 contains fifty-five brilliant color images printed on Blurb's best paper, 10"x8" landscape. This book is a visual feast!

Photographer, Artist, BookBuilder, VectorWrangler and more... DRVN2 abstraction is the branding brainchild of the author, John Connell, but you can call me "Dr.Vintu", which is what my girlfriend originally read into it...there are several "DRVN2" books in the Blurb bookstore, the latest of which is an inspired look at Santa Catalina Island and the city of Avalon. 12"x12", 108 pages, pure photography, no filler content. Clean and shiny.
