About the Book
Lithuanian photographer Dainius Ščiuka presents a study of the street; small bite-sized pieces of how personal taste is manifested through today’s everyday man and woman’s style. The initial inspiration for this project came to him three years ago when he watched his first documentary about Bill Cunningham, one of the masters and creators of the streetstyle genre. The original, as one may argue, Sartorialist’s passion for the originality in the streets of New York City were the initial push to the creation of this project.
Ščiuka’s work, vigilantly stirring away from the heavily saturated fashion week material and the official fashion scene of the five different cities in the world where he decided to point his camera, aims to showcase the real street. Fascinated by how the masses are experimenting with fashion and style he captures the individuals that pique his interest trying to imprint their essence in the fleeting photograph.
