A Challenge, An Interest And To Breathe The Fresh Sea Air
The Life of Barbara Grover
by Dominic Weeks
The title for this book came from how she described gardening in Cornwall for the first time, there couldn't be a more appropriate description for this small body of work.
On the 1st of March 2014 I met Barbara Grover, this was the first of a couple of meetings. Although known to my parents from previous working relationships, we had never met up until this point. Barbara now 78, is one of the kindest, warmest and most interesting people I have photographed.
After her husband died quite suddenly several years ago, she decided to keep herself busy with her love of gardening. Barbara is a woman with many hobbies and confessed to having five main obsessions in life: Books, botany, history of gardens and herbs, classical music, children their development and all that goes with them.
I hope that within the few short hours that I spent in her company, I have created a body of work that reflects the kind of person she is and the inspirational lifestyle that she leads.
