From the time I was a little kid I have loved the outdoors. I can remember exploring woods and fields near my home and catching grass snakes as a child. Whenever I had a choice I would be outside. I first travelled to Yellowstone in the spring of 1989. The fires of 1988 had left much of the park charred and blackened, yet the animals were still there, the geysers were still erupting, and I thought it was beautiful. I fell in love with the northern Rocky Mountains and have spent quite a bit of time honing my craft as I photographed them from Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming up to Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada. My files include thousands of images from Yellowstone and other western parks. My photos have been chosen for publication in many magazines, books, and calendars. You may see more of my photography at pbase.com/jmercier or jerrymercier.blogspot.com. I hope that you enjoy my photos and thanks for taking the time to look at them.
