David Creedon’s photographs encapsulate the frequently overlooked and largely unspoken experiences of those who stayed in rural parts of Ireland during the twentieth century when other family members left for cities in Ireland, England, the United States of America and elsewhere. They also capture the prevalence of the iconography of Catholicism in everyday home life.

Hi David... I wrote you a couple of years ago after first discovering your images. Thanks to you inspiring me I will finally get to Ireland in October of 2010. Your images have always stayed on the back of my mind, and I truly hope to still find traces of people who had to depart Ireland... Too bad I was not able to go and see your exhibition, but hey, buying your book is as close as I can get! Looking forward to getting it delivered in my post box...
