SOUNDS OF TWO WINGS
Teachings of Wisdom & Compassion in the Grand Canyon
by Marianne B. Rowe
Nature's beauty resonates with a very deep part of ourselves. The images of "Sounds of Two Wings" were gathered by two photographers on a 7-day journey through the Grand Canyon. Here, the "reader" is invited to enjoy contemplation of these Canyon moments as expressions of vast wilderness and as teachers of the deep wisdom and compassion shared by all beings.
In listening for the wisdom of the natural world, one accesses inner stillness and spaciousness. Through this quiet mind, one may sense what arises in the physical field from the perspective of objectivity (seeing it as beautiful), relationship (appreciating beauty), and transcendence (being conscious of and identified with pure awareness of all beauty). From sensuous patterns in riverbank sand to majestic towers of red rock cliffs, the visual experiencing of the Grand Canyon evokes a sense of simultaneous awe and communion.
The only text is a brief introduction that suggests a process for using the photographs for contemplative practice. Beyond that page, there is only the Grand Canyon -- images offered without words as reflections of the mystery and spaciousness of this blessing of collective emergence.
