The title "Charms" comes from May’s main influence with this book, Daniil Kharms, a Russian Absurdist playwright and author. Each micro-story of May's is a creative exploration of simplicity, in some cases to the ridiculous, in order to comment on larger facets of our modern day, western conditions. Each "charm" is a bit absurd as Kharms' influences peak through. Strikingly, they are also as enjoyable as they are shiny and small. With every entry comes a percolating, meaningful experience for any reader who allows a couple of deep breaths between the pages.
