Friction creates heat...

Since 2009, there is a higher percentage of the worlds’ population living in cities than in rural areas (source: United Nations Population Division). This density and constant contact between people can have dramatic outcomes, both positive and negative.

Cities are a melting pot where all backgrounds, cultures and opinions mix together. People visit and live there to gain new opportunities and experiences, and people move out of cities for a quieter and less chaotic life.

The artworks contained within this book are photos that are distorted digitally to represent this friction that we have within our cities. The ‘glitches’ within each piece represent excitement and tension, conflict and bonding.
