Pool Hall takes a look at pool rooms and their owners. These are the places where the next generation of professional pool players will emerge from. Their continued existence is crucial to the survival of the sport of pool. They are responsible for passing on the tradition.
The stigma of pool halls may never die, but many fail to realize the history of the establishments. Owners and their businesses have a story to tell. There are elements that will always be present to support the image of the seedy dangerous pool rooms of the past, but less and less are putting up with it inside (and outside) the walls of their pool room.
Though the philosophies of each owner may differ, they all come together in the promotion and sustainability of pool.
Oscar spent four years in the Navy where he was stationed in San Diego, CA. His last two years in the Navy were spent as a photographer. After leaving the Navy he received his A.S. in Graphic Design from Platt College in San Diego. After spending time in Sacramento,CA as a graphic designer he and his family moved east where he took a position as a stock broker in lower Manhattan. Currently he is an active duty Coast Guard member and lives in Atlantic Beach, NC with his wife, daughter, and Pug.
