This book highlights my year in Liverpool during the city’s designation as the European Capital of Culture (ECoC) in 2008. I illustrate chronologically and thematically some of the events and special moments I experienced. Some were officially scheduled as part of the ECoC programme, others are annual events and still some others sprang from local grass roots organisations.
In addition I offer visual approaches to the different communication themes observable in the city and how urban regeneration was being tackled.
I discovered Liverpool’s past through architectural remains and its museums, I have been enchanted by the livelihood of its cultural life in all its shades and my heart was won over by the fast tongue and the sound of the secret language Liverpudlians speak: the Scouse.
