About the Book
Few places on earth are blessed with the natural beauty or the striking contrasts of Scandinavia. Right up toward the North Pole, many places experience several months of the year in cold, perpetual darkness, with frequent visits from the eerie green aurora borealis, or “northern lights”. In summer there’s the spectacular beauty of the lush green forests, lakes, mountains, gushing waterfalls and fjords.
This book features some of the experiences from my visits in winter 2013 and summer 2014. It will help me to relive memories until my next visit, until which, like Monty Python’s infamous dead parrot, I shall be pining for the fjords.
Like most of us, Graham Meale spent a good deal of his life hostage to a mortgage. In 2004, at age 47, he realised that there was more to life, got his first passport and began working hard to fill it up. His goal is to see every nation on Earth that doesn’t have a McDonalds.
