About the Book
Every 12th of July, the Loyal Orange Order parades in different villages, towns and cities throughout Northern Ireland to celebrate the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 when the English, Dutch and Huguenot forces of William III defeated the Irish, Jacobean, French forces of King James. Whilst the battle was considered significant in the maintenance of the Protestant heritage within the northern counties of Ireland, the battle had a much more global significance in relation to the establishment of parliamentary government and the decline of autocratic monarchs throughout Europe in the period of the Enlightenment
