In October 2006, I went to the Dayspring Retreat Center in Germantown, Maryland, and spent three days in silence, wandering the grounds, listening and looking. These photos, and a few selected thoughts and poems, are a short account of what I saw on the hundred-plus acres where, it would seem, nature has congregated in a sanctuary surrounded by suburban sprawl.
