The 35 photographs presented in this book represent a small sampling of images captured over the past several years in various mountains and valleys lying west of Salt Lake City and stretching to the Nevada border. This region features most prominently the Great Salt Lake and its islands but also several ranges marching westward: the Oquirrh, Stansbury, Cedar, Lakeside, Grassy and Silver Island mountains. Areas not often visited, vistas rarely seen, these images were captured with a variety of infrared sensitive cameras and truly represent a “different light.”

This book is envisioned to be the first of a three-part series with volumes two and three focused on the West Desert north and south of the I-80 line.
