About the Book
The exhibition, Futurity and Photography, brought together 7 photographers from London, Ontario who focused on ethical themes. This catalogue documents the exhibition and provides a way frame a broader discussion.
What the exhibition proposed is that the subjects of observation, from a political standpoint, form a front to assert the importance of photographic images as markers of struggle. To foreground this, many of the works in this exhibition incorporated aspects of journalistic or documentary photography while others combined mediums that help to give a context to what the viewer saw through text or drawn elements. The images in Futurity and Photography helped to alleviate some of the ills that global societies now face: suicide, militarism, war, which arise from a failure of sociopolitical will to change the ideologies that seem to be perpetuated.
