About the Book
The rocky shores of Iceland contain an abundance of food sources of which few take advantage of today. At a first glance, one may get the impression that the shores contain little more than rocks, boulders and kelp. However, the kelp and other seaweeds can add a greater variety of texture, flavor, and nutrients to one's diet.
This book brings together the benefits of collecting edible seaweed, and provides ideas on how they may be collected, preserved, and used in cooking. A visit to the seashore with family and friends can be really enjoyable, and there is always something new to see. Finally, it is worth mentioning that in many areas in Iceland the seaweed is “on the house” – as free as the pleasure provided by the visits themselves.
And, oh, forgot to mention; the book is in Icelandic. But fear not. It contains a plenty of beautiful photos capturing the atmosphere of seaweed non-commercial harvesting in Iceland.
