    About the Book

    Edit

This cookbook honors my family's recipes and stories as we've migrated from China, to Taiwan and then to the United States of America. The influences, both generational and geographical, are embodied in this cookbook. My culinary evolution is documented with family stories associated with certain recipes, these recipes are featured with "flashforward" and "flashback" sections that contrast both traditional and modern methods and ingredients of making these dishes.

Since the number "8" is a synonymous with good fortune in Chinese culture, I have designed the cookbook with 8 categories and 8 recipes in each category. I've added a sweet ending dessert recipe inspired by my boys called Fresh Fruit with "Fondue to Fight For".

I offer this book as an introduction to my heritage and I encourage you to experiment in the kitchen as you get to know my family's history through our stories and family cuisine.
