In 2008 Cardiff University celebrated its 125th Anniversary. Founded in 1883, the University has evolved to become a world-leading institution, recognised for its research, teaching and learning of international distinction and impact.
To commemorate this milestone, 2008 was packed with celebratory events designed to bring together the widest range of people to mark this important year.
One such event was the 125 Photography Competition which provided the perfect opportunity for staff, students, friends and supporters of the University to get involved with the celebrations.
Generating more than 900 entries from around the world, the Photography Competition was split into four categories: University Campus, My Work, Cardiff Life and 125: Use Your Imagination. Monthly winners were selected throughout 2008, with the grand prize winners chosen at the end of the year.

Showcasing Cardiff University’s heritage, work and culture, the outstanding photographs bring to life the University and the city that surrounds it, documenting Cardiff University in its 125th Anniversary year.
