About the Book
James V. Roy dedicated his life to only 2 things; his family and the Fitchburg Massachusetts Fire Department. Struck down far too early from occupational cancer due to repeated exposure to toxic smoke and hazardous atmospheres in 40 years as a firefighter, Jimmy's unwavering commitment to the department and city made him an undeniable force in the department for his entire career, loved and hated, at the same time, by everyone.
This book chronicles not only his funeral with full department honors, but also the preparations for the services, a tribute by his son (a serving member of the department), and a selection of photos from his 40 year career.
