About the Book
David Bethune’s homage to the incredible murals of Miami’s Wynwood district, the largest collection of street art in the United States, is a unique exploration in multiple exposure photography. Bethune uses the camera to combine two images into the same frame on site, a technique he’s been developing since 2008. His painterly compositions engage the eye and invite us to examine graffiti with a fresh perspective, while the accompanying bilingual text in English and Spanish reveals the artist’s views on the larger connections between art and the way we see life.
David Bethune is an American artist born in Austin, Texas in 1968. He first began taking photographs at age 14 in high school photojournalism class and moved into formal art-making in 2001. David’s work has appeared in several group and solo shows and been published in ArtNews Magazine. His style combines street photography, architecture, fine art, and commercialism into evocative images that encourage new ways of looking at, and reacting to, our surroundings. David lives with his partner and two dogs in Miami, Florida.
