About the Book
Reflections: Lost River Farm is a photographic exhibit that highlights the two-dimensional world of natural reflections and portrays the mystery, intrigue, and drama that exists in the avatar of nature’s constantly changing canvas.
Many of the images defy the viewer to see the real versus the reflection. Others simply revel in the unique view provided by the natural filters of a rippling pond surface or celestial bodies created by leaves and other floating debris when seen in reflection.
What makes this project even more interesting is that all the images and reflections were made around two ponds on Lost River Farm in the Alleghany Highlands of Virginia. It’s as much the product of an ideal landscape as it is the ability to see things a bit differently. While some of the images required specific technical skills, none were beyond the reach of most people with a camera. To prove that point, the majority of the images were made with an iPhone, some with a point a shoot, and only a few with a “fancy” digital camera.
