About the Book
Americapalooza – Fifty Shades of these United States is not your father’s AAA Travel Guide, it is not Charles Kuralt’s On the Road, not Yelp! or Trip Advisor and it is definitely not Steinbeck's Travels With Charley. It’s more of a photo album of America, similar to the late Paul Harvey, telling the "Rest of the Story" behind the photographs.
It covers the diverse nature and nuances of the 50 US states, 2 Caribbean territories and the District of Columbia. The author presents photographs of all 53 of these capitols, the “cathedrals of representative government,” as well as city views and historic icons.
In addition, the author takes you to monuments and homes of US Presidents, assassination locations, the school Mary took her lamb to, a Texas Longhorn cattle drive, the Boston Massacre, the first basketball and baseball games, the first Pizza Hut, where the first airplane was made, the home of the hamburger, the home of chicken wings, the home of the King of Pop, a town burning for over 50 years, where Bandstand started, the President’s chops, the largest furniture bureau, the largest private residence, bullet holes in a state house, Forrest Gump’s bench location, the highest waterfalls and where yearly the swallows return to Capistrano (see above photo).
There are birthplaces of Kermit the Frog, the Peace Corps, Wendy’s, Mickey D's, KFC, Superman, Coca Cola, Pepsi, Dr Pepper, Gatorade, country music, rock 'n' roll, Elvis, jazz, the Crossroad of Blues, the ice cream sundae and Captain Kirk’s future birthplace.
Included are the world’s largest baseball bat, the restaurant with throwed rolls, the Jolly Green Giant, the Jungle Room, the Triple Dog Dare monument, Touchdown Jesus, the Immaculate Reception, Jake and Elwood, Curly and Vince, the Sputnik crash, the Bronze Fonz, walking across the Mississippi river, playing catch in a corn field, Disney’s boyhood home, and metal sculptures on the Enchanted Highway.
That is what Americapalooza is all about.
