About the Book
Flatcreek Farm is a real place. In this second of a set of three books, tales of mice, flying dogs and BB guns underscore some of the place's simple lessons. Written to be read out loud, "Live Oaks" was created for young readers to use to lull weary parents back into childhood after a long, serious and sometimes chaotic work day. The book is a short read of short stories, targeted for mid-level to advanced readers, ages 8-12.
"I've always had jobs I dearly loved, with government, the military, and in the private sector. And now I've been lucky enough to land a great gig at a non-profit science center. Life is good!" J. Michael Dumoulin is a 30-year Air Force veteran and a NASA retiree. He is a senior partner in TDG, a museum consulting LLC, and an award-winning communicator, exhibit designer, writer and poet. The three-book set "Flatcreek Tales," released together, were his second, third and fourth books, and a fifth, this one non-fiction, is titled "Followership: The Manual." Married for more than a third of a century, J. Michael and his wife Rosemary have two children and three grands. Colonel Dumoulin graduated with a Graphics Design degree from Florida State, earned an Advertising B.S. from the University of Florida, and was awarded a Masters degree in Public Communications from Boston University. He also holds a post-Masters certificate in National Strategy from the Air Force's Air University.
