About the Book
A photographic essay on the major cemeteries of New Orleans. The photographs (193 images) illustrate the various periods of architecture and culture to be found in these singular places. A text accompanies the fine art photographs which gives an overview of the burial practices of one of the most interesting cities in the United States. The book is one you'll be proud to exhibit on your coffee table and is, in itself, a work of art

I was born in 1944. I grew up in New York City and Greensboro, North Carolina. I graduated from Greensboro College and The University of North Carolina. I moved to New Orleans in 1965 and began to photograph the culture of that singular city. Nothing captured my imagination like its unique cemeteries. In 2005 hurricane Katrina destroyed my negatives, slides and prints. Since that time I have continued to photograph these mysterious and wonderful sacred sites.
