About the Book
New Orleans' French Quarter on Mardi Gras is a free show of costumed characters out roaming the streets.
If you stand in one place, the cast of Mardi Gras will pass by.
The portraits in this book were shot Mardi Gras mornings of 1998 and 1999 at the corner of Bourbon St. and St. Anne in New Orleans' French Quarter.
I had set up with a back drop one year and then with just a plain bed sheet the next year on the side of Bourbon St. and as costumed characters would walk by I would ask them if they would stand for a photo.
