In 2008, the town’s community spirit was cited in the LivCom competition endorsed by the United Nations as “the best town in the world to live in”.

He has made several hundred documentary films, and current affairs programmes with RTÉ, and in collaboration with Channel 4 and BBC. Born in Manchester, England he lives in County Wicklow, Ireland. He is a member of Kilmantin Arts and the Irish Railway Records Society.
