About the Book
FATE/ALITY closely studies the spiritual connection between women who have shunned prayer and their belief in god, heaven and hell. This connection has created a bond, a friendship and a sisterhood. Yet before this sisterhood comes a stronger and more intimate relationship, a relationship with nature. Mother Earth is very real and very alive; we can see, feel, and hear her. However her mortality lives on longer than is known. This idea is inspiring to these women who have been graced with such vulnerably short lives. Through the power of natural magic they explore rural areas, far from the daily stresses of life and their inevitable fate. They find comfort in accepting their mortality, visiting graveyards, conjuring spirits of the deceased and casting spells to fulfill a healthier more bountiful life.
Being a part of this sisterhood I have used the magic of photography to capture these moments of peace eternally. My sisters and I find happiness in the simplicity of moss growing back beneath the fallen wet leaves. We hear music in the roaring waters that fall upon ancient rock. And when the sun says goodbye each evening, we soak in its warmth as if it were the first and last time we will. Through the lens of my camera I embrace these moments with more passion than I have ever experienced before.
