About the Book
This is a 96 page Fine Art 11x13 with black background book.
Having retired as a teacher, I now have time to explore my own creative process in areas of digital art and traditional art techniques. At the age of ten I received my first camera, a Kodak Box Brownie and developed the film and prints in an old dark laundry in the early 1950’s it still amazes me the rate of change of technology from that time to now. What with image manipulation software and printing techniques with the combination of acrylics and oil paint on canvas, art still is a creative event whatever technique or medium is used. I still get excited when I use acrylic and oil paint and stretch my own canvas as much as the magic of film and digital.
About the Star Swamp Photo Essay
I taught at North Beach Primary School, which is located on the outskirts of the Star Swamp Reserve. This resource served for many educational excursions. Star Swamp has been described as An Oasis in the Middle of Suburbia. It holds for me a wide variety of photographic subjects of the Australian Bush. In this essay I have presented the varying subjects through the seasons. This is an ongoing project
.
Star Swamp Bushland is a 96 hectare Class-A reserve, vested in, and managed by the City of Stirling. It is located 15 km north of Perth and comprises 4 hectares of semi-permanent freshwater lake with paperbark trees and 92 hectares of banksia, tuart, jarrah and marri woodlands, and areas of low heath. The Reserve is a declared Bush Forever site [no. 204] that has been set aside for the purposes of conservation, passive recreation and education. It is a remnant of the once extensive chain of wetland lakes and swamps which filled low-lying areas between ancient sand dunes.
